Thinking of Going Greek?

To Be Or Not To Be… Greek!

Not sure yet how you feel about Greek life? Well let me name a few benefits for you…

Sisterhood

Throughout recruitment you will meet a variety of women in every chapter that you visit. Inevitably, the way that recruitment works is that you will end up at the chapter where you make a great connection and fit in with the rest of the women. Over your four (or more) years of college you have the opportunity to live, eat and breathe with these women, and everything in between. Trust me, you will go through a lot with these new friends. These friendships are the true ones, the ones that will last you a lifetime.

Academics

The stats are all there to support it, the All Sorority Average GPA is typically higher than the All University Average GPA no matter where you look. In a sorority you will find support, incentives and motivation for better grades, and study sessions to help keep you focused on what you’re really in college for, class.

Leadership

By joining the Greek System, you’ll find leadership opportunities everywhere, not just within your chapter but also within the Panhellenic community. Want to make a difference, influence or start a change? What could be a better way to see that through? Get involved and get that leadership experience that looks great on any resume!

Community Service/Philanthropy Projects

Every Greek organization has its own philanthropy, or charitable organization that it is affiliated with and raises money for each year. Some chapters even participate in multiple community service projects each year to give back to the local community in addition to their philanthropy. We are so gifted to be able to be a part of something as great as the Greek System that we take this opportunity to give back to those less fortunate.

Alumnae Network

Ever wonder what happens after graduation? Well the sisterhood doesn’t stop there! There are Alumnae groups in areas throughout the U.S. and Canada who work to keep your chapters running and aiming for the highest goals. These groups bring sisters together, support each other, they might even be able to help you out with your job search. Or better yet, maybe you’ll meet a fellow Greek member in the workplace? After graduation, you’ll find that the networks are huge and the benefits could be endless.

Prep for Graduation

Many sororities want to ensure that their seniors get off to the right start after graduation so they include special programming targeted at their seniors. This might include professional guest speakers, focus on resume help, or even information on the latest internships and job opportunities in the area. Sorority membership is a lifelong bond and we strive to help each other during and AFTER college.

Social Life

Last but certainly not least, Greek chapters take their social schedule seriously! Whether it’s an intramural sports game, or exchange party with a Fraternity, there will be many options and events to keep you busy throughout the year. This is a great way for you to feel as though you are in a more intimate community within the larger University.

These are just a few samples of what Greek life entails. So…when we put it that way, doesn’t this seem like something you would want to be a part of? Take this opportunity to make the most out of your college experience and Go Greek!
